Bulldogs to compete in Boyd County Roundball Classic

LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to face former 16th Region rival Bath County in the Boyd County Roundball Classic on Saturday, Dec. 12.

The Boyd County Roundball Classic is one of the area's top boys' high school basketball events.

The Bulldogs opened preseason practice recently.

Lawrence County is the reigning 58th District champion. After capturing the 2019-20 58th District title, Lawrence County finished runner-up to Martin County in the 15th Region Boys' Basketball Tournament.

The Bulldogs compiled a 22-12 record during the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season.

Head coach Chandler Thompson guided Lawrence County to the 15th Region runner-up finish.

Double figures scorers Cody Maynard (15.7 ppg) and Trenton Adkins (10.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg) are set to return to the court for 2019-20 15th Region title contender runner-up Lawrence County.

The Bulldogs are expected to push for the 15th Region's top spot during the 2020-21 boys' high school basketball season.

Johnson County native Bart Williams guides Bath County as its head coach. Bath County finished as the 61st District runner-up behind Rowan County in late-February. The Wildcats concluded the 2019-20 boys' high school basketball season 16-17.
