LOUISA — Lawrence County is back on the gridiron.

The Bulldogs, under the direction of Coach Alan Short, opened preseason practice on Monday, July 14.

Lawrence County compiled an 8-4 record in the 2024 high school football season.

The Bulldogs advanced to the second round of the 2024 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.

Lawrence County finished runner-up behind perennial state title contender Belfry in Class 3A, District 8 last season. The Bulldogs won seven of 10 regular season games in 2024, notching wins over Rowan County, Shelby Valley, Harlan County, Estill County, Magoffin County, Powell County and Mason County.

Lawrence County dropped regular season games to Belfry, Perry County Central and Boyd County in 2024.

Excelling offensively and defensively, Lawrence County rolled past Clay County 48-7 in the opening round of the 2024 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs. The Bulldogs amassed 437 yards of total offense in the convincing victory over the Tigers.

Lawrence County visited Bell County in the second round of the 2024 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs. Bell County pulled away to beat the Bulldogs 44-12 in the second round of the previous KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.

Several experienced players have returned for Lawrence County and are preparing to compete in the 2025 high school football season. Lawrence County’s 2025 schedule is comprised of games versus Martin County, Garrard County, Ashland, North Laurel, Letcher County Central, Mason County, Powell County, Estill County, Magoffin County and Boyd County.
