Bulldogs beat Magoffin County 47-6

LOUISA — Lawrence County rushed past visiting Magoffin County 47-6 in the first round of the KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 5.

The Bulldogs improved to 8-3 after posting the win, advancing to the second round of the KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.

Following the loss, Magoffin County (6-3) was eliminated from the postseason.

The Bulldogs moved ahead early and forced Magoffin County to play from behind throughout the postseason matchup.

Lawrence County rushed 33 times for 381 yards and seven touchdowns.

Six different Bulldogs reached the endzone via the ground. Lawrence County featured three rushers with 100-plus yards.

Dylan Ferguson led Lawrence County on the ground, rushing eight times for 136 yards and one touchdown.

Behind Ferguson, Douglas Hall rushed eight times for 110 yards and one touchdown.

Contributing to Lawrence County's offensive attack, Blue Fletcher rushed nine times for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

As part of a balanced offensive attack for the Bulldogs, Cody Crum, Kaden Gillispie and Alex Strickland added one rushing touchdown apiece.

Defensively, Lawrence County recorded five interceptions. Strickland, Caden Ball, Nick Collinsworth, Jake Derifield and Ryan Marcum each logged one interception for the Bulldogs in the win.

Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Belfry in the second round of the KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 12.
