Both LC County Girls and Boys Basketball win the Carolina Invitational Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Lawrence County High Schools Girls and Boys basketball teams traveled to Charleston, South Carolina during the Christmas break to participate in the Carolina Invitational Tournament.
The first girl’s game was played on Dec. 28, against Palmetto Christian Academy (Mt. Pleasant) S.C., winning by a score of 58-47. Sophie Adkins led the Dawgs with 22 points, followed by Kaison Ward with 11 points, Jada Patton with 10 points, Leandra Curnutte with 8 points, Abby Maynard with 5 points and Abby Nelson with 2 points.
Dec. 29, the Dawgs took on Cross, S.C., winning that game by a score of 63-41.
Sophie Adkins led in this game with 31 points; Leandra Curnutte with 9 points; Madison Artrip with 5 points; Jada Patton and Kaison Ward, had 4 points each; Abby Nelson and Abby Maynard, both had 3 points and Addison Bloomfied and Hallie Adkins, both scored 2 points each.
Finishing out the tournament win a win of 70-26, against Tuscola (Waynesville), N.C.
Sophie Adkins was the star of the last tournament game with 21 points; Kaison Ward followed with 14 points; Jada Patton with 12 points; Abby Maynard with 8 points’ Addison Bloomfield with 5 points; Hallie Adkins and Madison Artrip, both scored 3 points; with Leandra Curnutte and Addison Bowen, both scoring 2 points.
The LC Boys team played the Cross, S.C., team on Dec. 28, winning 70-40. Wyatt Branham and Luke Fetherolf, led the “Dawgs: with 12 points each; Blake Marcum followed with 11 points; Hayden Perry score 7 points; Logan Ratliff and Braxton Davis, both with 6 points; Kaden Johnson added 5 points; Andrew Ratliff put in 3 points; and Ford Scaggs, Andrew Bloomfield and West Vanhorn, scored 2 points each.
The boys team played again on Dec. 29, and defeated St. John’s Christian Academy (Moncks Corner) S.C., by a score of 76-57.
Blake Marcum led with Dawgs with 24 points; followed by Hayden Perry with 11 points; Luke Fetherolf scored 10 points; Kaden Johnson, with 8 points; Ford Scaggs and Andrew Bloomfield, both scored 5 points; Logan Ratliff with 4 points; and Wyatt Branham, Braxton Davis and Isaah Hughes, all scored 3 points each.
The final game of the tournament for the boys was with Riverpointe (North Charleston) S.C., and took the win, 64-50.
Hyden Perry was the leading scorer of this game with 17 points; followed by Andrew Bloomfield with 12 points; Kaden Johnson, 9 points; Luke Fetherolf with 7 points; Blake Marcum and Braxton Davis with 6 points each; Ford Scaggs with 4 points and Logan Ratliff with 3 points.
