LOUISA — The fourth annual Cause For Paws fundraiser event for the Lawrence Countys Humane Society is scheduled for Saturday May 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will include indoor and outdoor booths available and will be held rain or shine, event planner Helen Holt said.
Free coffee and donuts will be provided to vendors, and there will be crafters, direct sales, free activities for children, raffles, a silent auction, food and entertainment during the event.
There will also be a cruise in and a raffle for a four-day, three-night stay in the Smokey Mountains.
Holt is the only one authorized to approve an application or receive vendor fees.
For more information, contact Holt at (606) 483-0144.
“We have Cody Lowe and his band coming as well as Kenney Chaney and we will also have the Louisa Boot Scooting line dancers there,” Holt said. “We will also have Kentucky Rides set up and they have rides set up like they have at the mall. There will be free face painting, free rock painting, inflatables and so much more.”
Holt said they used to do Walk for the Animals, but interest faded, and now she and her daughter do direct sales and were always going to vendor events.
“I told Shalon that it’s a shame that no one was doing that for the shelter and the light kind of went on,” Holt said. “No one else knew how to go about organizing one and neither did I, but I was willing to give it a shot and have been doing it ever since.”
Holt said that Mountain State Reptile Rescue will also be at the event to do a presentation with live animals.
“We struggle to keep the shelter open and this fundraiser is very important for that,” Holt said. “Maybe this will make the public more aware of how much we need their support.”
