Two arrested after two-county chase

PAINTSVILLE — An attempted traffic stop Thursday in Johnson County led to a two-county chase that resulted in the arrest of two people and a stolen vehicle being recovered on a strip job in Floyd County.
Larry Bartley, 26, of Paintsville, is charged with speeding 26 miles over the limit or greater over the limit, disregarding a traffic light, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer and receiving stolen property $10,000 or more.Diana F. Gatewood, 29, of Paintsvile, is charged with two counts of second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, prescription of a controlled substance not in the proper container, second-degree possession of a controlled substance-drug unspecified and tampering with physical evidence.According to a release issued by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, an attempted traffic stop led Johnson County deputies into Floyd County, where Floyd County deputies, the Allen Police Department and Kentucky State Police joined the chase in an attempt to stop the vehicle.The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said that a drone was used for surveillance to locate Bartley and Gatewood.After locating the vehicle on Garth Hollow Road, Floyd County K-9 officer Litta tracked down Bartley and Gatewood, who were taken into custody and transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Johnson County after receiving medical clearance at Paul B. Hall Medical Center.
