A hearing in the Amber Spradlin murder case that had been set for last Friday, April 3, was abruptly canceled that morning leaving everyone questioning as to why.

In an order filed in the case on Monday, April 6, Special Judge Eddy Coleman said he was forced to cancel the hearing after being injured in a fall. He added that injury will require surgery, which was been scheduled for Tuesday.

Spradlin’s body was found in an Arkansas Creek home in Floyd County, with 11 stab wounds in June of 2023.  In July of 2023, three suspects, Michael “MK” McKinney III, Michael McKinney II and Josh Mullins were arrested in connection to her death.

McKinney II and Mullins are facing eight counts of tampering with evidence, and McKinney III is facing those charges as well as murder. In 2025 the case was moved to Pike County.

The hearing has now been rescheduled for 10 a.m., April 23, in Pike Circuit Court.
