Six indicted by Lawrence County Grand Jury

LOUISA — The Lawrence County Grand Jury returned six indictments last Thursday.

Named in the true bills were:

• Joseph Berry, 40, of Fort Gay, W.Va., charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession/drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing methamphetamine, a syringe and individual baggies on Sept. 15, 2022.

• Will P. Brown, 44, of Salyersville, charged with theft by deception over $10,000 for allegedly engaging in conduct that deprived and defrauded Brown Foodservice of Louisa of $11,628.31 by issuing fuel receipts that did not reflect monetary refunds that he received from Nov. 8, 2021, through July 7, 2022.

• Wallace Kazee, 29, of Louisa, charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 (auto) and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license for allegedly unlawfully taking a Buick SUV owned by Margaret Kazee of Louisa, with a value of approximately $8,000, on Aug. 29, 2022, and operating a motor vehicle while his license had been suspended or revoked.

• Joshua W. Pruitt, 31, of Louisa, charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing 0.125 grams of methamphetamine, individual baggies, scales, and syringes with the intent to traffic methamphetamine and possessing an altered mirror containing chemical residue on Dec. 15, 2022.

• Danielle Robertson, 26, of Fort Gay, W.Va., charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession/drug paraphernalia and prescription not in proper container for allegedly possessing methamphetamine, an altered glass pipe with chemical residue, a scale containing chemical residue, and gabapentin without it being in its properly administered container on Sept. 15, 2022.

• Jonah Skaggs, 33, of Lowmansville, charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest for allegedly unlawfully entering and remaining in an outbuilding owned by Amanda Couch of Lowmansville with the intent to commit theft; possessing heroin, an altered glass pipe containing chemical residue; and attempting to prevent police officers from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office from effecting an arrest by using or threatening to use physical force against the officers on Sept. 14, 2022.
