Prestonsburg Community mourns loss of retired Fire Marshal
Retired Fire Marshal Larry Adams, 78, of David, who served with the Prestonsburg Fire Department passed away on Sunday, May 25, at Riverview Health Care Center in Prestonsburg.
According to a statement on Facebook the Prestonsburg said, “During Larry’s distinguished career, he demonstrated unwavering courage, integrity, and commitment to protecting our community. He was not only a valued colleague but also a trusted friend and mentor to many within the department and the community. He was a devoted educator who believed in empowering the next generation through knowledge and guidance.
A man of deep faith, Larry lived his life as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, exemplifying compassion, strength, humility, and love in all he did. His unwavering belief in God shaped his service, his teaching, and his relationships. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life and service. He will be remembered with the deepest respect and gratitude. May he rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.”
Larry was a member and associate pastor of Garrett First Baptist Church, he was a retired Fire Marshall for the City of Prestonsburg, an EMT Instructor, Building Inspector, Director of Operations at Transstar Ambulance Service, State Fire Instructor and also a retired Fire Chief of David Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Davis Adams; two daughters, Amy C. Adams and Jeanie (William) Stepp; four brothers; Paul, Donnie, Danny and Terry Adams; four grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services were Friday, May 30, at Hall Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hicks Family Cemetery, Hippo.
A memorial EMT Scholarship Fund has been set up in memory of Larry Adams, c/o Peoples Bank, 311 N. Arnold Ave, Prestonsburg, KY 41653.
