Paintsville Tourism Exec-Director Dies Suddenly Leaving Community Sad and Shocked

Jeremiah Parsons of Prestonsburg, passed away suddenly at Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Thursday, Jan. 15, leaving his community shocked and saddened.

Parsons was the Executive Director of Paintsville Tourism and a board member at the Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce issued a statement in memory of Parsons.

“The Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce is deeply saddened by the passing of Jeremiah Parsons, a valued member of our Board of Directors. Jeremiah’s passion for our community, his leadership and his strong work ethic left a lasting impact on the Chamber and on all who worked alongside him. He believed in collaboration and in strengthening Paintsville and Johnson County. Jeremiah had a unique ability to bring people together-city and county leaders, businesses, volunteers-all working toward the same goal.”

Parsons was born July 1, a son of the late Rudy Parsons Jr. and Alice Jacobs Parsons. He is survived by his brothers, Mickey Rudolph (Sarah) Parsons, Andrew Parsons, Matthew Parsons (Glenda), Joshua (Jessica) Parsons, Thomas Parsons, Nathaniel Lee Dye and Shane Combs; grandparents, Eugene and Luveda Jacobs; and a host of relatives and friends. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Allen Baptist Church, Prestonsburg, with Phillip Ramey officiating Burial was at Jacobs Parsons Cemetery, McDowell.
