More than 23,000 total cases since pandemic began

More than 23,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lawrence, Johnson, Floyd and Martin counties since the pandemic began in March 2020.
A total of 23,014 cases have been reported in the four counties, including 3,950 in Lawrence, 5,835 in Johnson, 10,205 in Floyd and 3,024 in Martin.
The four counties had 1,599 new cases between Tuesday, Jan. 25, and Monday, Jan. 31. A total of 1,115 new cases were reported during the previous seven-day period.
New cases included 293 in Lawrence County, 394 in Johnson County, 665 in Floyd County and 247 in Martin County.
Active cases on Monday included 50 in Lawrence County, 588 in Johnson County, 905 in Floyd County and 247 in Martin County.
Two deaths were reported in Johnson County Monday, bringing its total to 77.
Lawrence County has had 60 COVID-19-related deaths and Martin County reported 44 since March 2020.
The Floyd County Health Department does not include deaths in its daily COVID-19 updates.
All Kentucky counties remain in the red on the state’s COVID-19 incidence-rate map. Local rates on Monday were 192.1 in Lawrence County, 205.4 in Johnson County, 199.9 in Floyd County and 136.5 in Martin County.
