Martin County Pool Reopens
THE MARTIN COUNTY POOL officially re-opened to the public on Friday, July 11, after being shut down for eight years. A community reopening ceremony was held prior to the opening. According to Cody Slone, “This project wasn’t just about reopening a pool, it was about investing in our community, creating a space for families, and building something our children can grow up with. Seeing the smiles, the laughter, and the joy in the water today reminded me exactly why this mattered. This is for all of our kids and the future we’re creating together.” The original pool opened in 1976 and is located at the Ray Fields Park on Rt. 4, Inez. Call 606-953-7206 for reservations, $225 for 2 hours includes shelter and 2 paid certified lifeguards. The Big Sandy Area Community Action Program gave financial help for the project and will be maintained by the Fiscal Court. The pools employees 15 lifeguards and a manager. Deputy Judge Carolea Mills oversaw all the work done.
