Martin County man accepts plea deal and Receives 30-year sentence

Austin T. Jackson, 27, of Warfield was charged in two indictments on March 7, 2024, with first-degree bail jumping.
On or before Dec. 21, 2023, Jackson allegedly after having been released from custody by the court upon the condition that he will subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with felony charges 21-CR-00040 and 21-CR-00041, failed to appear at that time and place as ordered by the court for a bond revocation hearing. Jackson was arrested on April 11 and was incarcerated at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
On Thursday, Dec. 2, during court mediation a change of plea hearing was scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 19.
Jackson appeared in Martin County Circuit Court on Thursday, Dec. 19, and took a plea deal that he will serve 30 years in prison. He pled guilty to six felony charges, which includes rape of two minors.
Bail jumping, first degree: 5 years consecutive for a total of 30 years; Bail jumping, first degree: 5 years consecutive for a total of 30 years; 1. Rape, second degree (mentally incapacitated); 2. Unlawful transaction with minor, second degree: 1. 5 years; 2. 5 years, consecutive to each other, total 30 years; and 1. Rape, second degree (mentally incapacitated); 2. Unlawful transaction with minor, second degree: 1. 5 years; 2. 5 years, to run consecutive to each other, for total 30 years. Sentencing date is scheduled for 10 a.m., March 6, at the Martin County Courthouse.
