LOUISA — The Louisa Police Department has received several counterfeit money complaints from various locations throughout the city and is asking residents to pay attention when accepting money.
Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt said in a press release Monday that most of the bills have been $20 denomination that say “Copy Money” on them, but that the fake bills could also be in other denominations.
“All businesses need to use extra awareness when accepting any cash,” Fugitt said in the release. “If you have information on anyone in possession of fake money that is similar to the ones in the picture, please contact Detective Hunter James at hjames@louisapd.org or Sergeant Steven Wilburn at swilburn@loisapd.org.”
