Kentucky State Police identified the victim as Jacob Fitch, 20, of Louisa.

The KSP received a call of a two-vehicle fatal crash on Ky. 2061 in Pikeville at approximately 10:29 a.m., according to a press release.

Fitch lost control of his 1991 Chevrolet pickup while traveling south on Ky. 2061 and struck a northbound 2001 Peterbilt semi-tractor and trailer.

Fitch was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office. An unidentified passenger in Fitch’s vehicle was transported to Pikeville Medical Center with non-life threating injuries.

The investigation is ongoing by KSP Det. Mark Branham, who is an accident reconstructionist.

Branham was assisted on scene by additional KSP Post 9 personnel, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Gulnare and Coal Run volunteer fire departments, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
