Louisa man arrested for armed robbery

LOUISA — A Louisa man who was involved in an armed robbery in Lawrence County Saturday was arrested by West Virginia State Police. James Lewis Dean, 49, of Louisa, is charged in West Virginia on various charges, according to a release issued by the Louisa Police Department. Louisa Patrolman Teddy Newsome obtained warrants for first-degree robbery and first-degree unlawful imprisonment that was sent to the West Virginia State Police to be served later when Dean was extradited by to Kentucky, the release said. The Louisa Police Department received a call of an armed robbery at the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop on Madison Street at 7:28 a.m. Saturday, the release said, and Dean was identified as the suspect during the investigation. Dean was located by the West Virginia State Police on Rt. 52 near the Pit Stop walking on foot and in possession of a stolen firearm, the release said. Dean was taken into custody and was incarcerated in the West Virginia Regional Jail. The Louisa Police Department were assisted by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Police, Kentucky State Police and the Wayne County, W.Va., Sheriff’s Office.
