Louisa Fire Department Fire School

THE LOUISA FIRE DEPARTMENT hosted their 35 annual Eastern Kentucky Firefighters Association fire school, May 3-4-5. According to Fire Chief Eddie Preston the fire school started in 1989.

Preston said the numbers were down this year, but at the same time everyone is seeing a decrease in volunteer firefighters nationwide. “In the past, schools would have 250 to 300 students,” Preston said. “This year we had 130 students from 17 departments across the state as far away as Elizabethtown.” Submitted photo: Peggy Preston
