Local Volunteer Completes project to Clean Veterans Memorial Bridge

Braving unbearable heat and humidity, Paintsville resident Danny "Shorty" Roberts completed his pet project of pressure washing the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Paintsville last weekend. Roberts began the work a couple of weeks ago and completed it on Sunday, when the heat index was 100 degrees. Roberts said the heat almost got the best of him, but he continued on to get the volunteer project finished. A life-long Paintsville resident, Roberts said that to his knowledge the bridge, which is the main entrance to the downtown area, had never received a thorough cleaning and urges officials to regularly maintain the structure. Paintsville residents applauded his volunteerism, with some suggesting he be named Citizen of the Year and Hometown Hero for his efforts.
