Local counties remain in red zone

Lawrence, Johnson, Floyd and Martin counties remain in the COVID-19 red zone as new cases continue to rise in the region.

A total of 801 new cases were reported in the four counties from Tuesday, Sept. 14, through Monday, Sept. 20, including 82 in Lawrence, 213 in Johnson, 404 in Floyd and 102 in Martin.

Four additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported in the region, including one in Lawrence County on Sept. 16 and three in Johnson County — one on Sept. 16 and two on Sept. 19.

Total coronavirus-related deaths include 36 in Lawrence County, 52 in Johnson County and 30 in Martin County as of Monday.

The Floyd County Health Department does not provide daily reports on the number of COVID-19-related deaths.

Lawrence, Johnson and Martin counties reported a total of 695 active cases, including 82 in Lawrence, 446 in Johnson and 181 in Martin.

Floyd County reported 719 active cases on Friday.

Incidence rates on Monday included 81.1 in Lawrence County, 99.2 in Johnson County, 142.1 in Floyd County and 108.5 in Martin County.
