LCHS teacher arrested on unlawful transaction with minor charge

LOUISA — A Lawrence County High School science teacher was arrested Thursday on a charge of second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.
According to the criminal complaint, Amber Dawn Burton, 34, of Louisa, knowingly induced, assisted or caused a minor to engage in illegal controlled substance activity by providing a 15-year-old juvenile with a marijuana TCHC vape pen and smoking it with the juvenile.
Burton is a biology teacher at Lawrence County High School and has been employed by the school district since Jan. 19, 2021, according to her Facebook page.
As of press time Tuesday, Lawrence County School Superintendent Dr. Robbie Fletcher had not responded to emails regarding the status of Burton’s employment with the district.
