LC BOE gives last Personnel update before school year begins

The Lawrence County Board of Education announced new hires, changes in positions, resignations and two retirements for the 2025-26 school year, during their meeting on July 21.

Among the new hires listed are: Melissa Blankenship, LCHS Cheer Coach; Dawson Burton, LCHS teacher; Kate Cecil, LEES teacher; Brittany Fitch, LEES teacher; Baden Gillespie, LEES Instructional Assistant; Zachary Goodwin, LMS teacher; Cindy Keaton, FES School Nurse; Lillian Kinser, LWES teacher; Wrendi McDavid, LCHS Principal; Jeremy Ousley, LCHS teacher; Ami Pack, LEES School Secretary; Kiersten Pannell, LCHS Teacher; Cynthia Sparks, BES Middle School teacher; Jennifer Spradlin, LCHS School Secretary; Joshua Wells, BES Middle School teacher and Megan Williams, BES Elementary teacher.

Ten staff members will take on different roles as the school year begins among those are: Susan Adams at LEES, going from her elementary teaching position to LBD teacher; Brandi Ash, LEES Instructional Assistant to LEES teacher; DeeKay Burchett, LBD teacher at LMS to IDEA District Resource teacher; Angel Derifield, LEES Asst. Principal to LEES Principal; Arnold Jewell, BES teacher to BES Principal; Collan McCoy, LMS teacher to LCHS teacher; Keisha Moore, District Preschool IDEA Instructional Assistant to Preschool Instructional Assistant LWES; Sherry Runyon Instructional Assistant to School Liaison and Attendance Specialist (District); Kelly Short LMS teacher to LCHS teacher; Chandler Thompson LCHS teacher to Asst. Principal at LCHS.

The following resignations were accepted by FES teacher Alyson Cordle, District Mechanic James Ison, LCHS teacher Sarah Johnson and FES Instructional Asst. Deborah See.

The BOE announced LC Maintenance Manager Gary Colvin and LCHS Asst. Principal Travis Feltner as the two retirees.

“I want to thank God for the opportunities He has provided me,’ said Feltner. “Being here for 27 years has been a true blessing. I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with so many wonderful people. This has been an amazing place to work, worship, and raise my children. I’m excited for the next chapter in my life and what the Lord has planned for me.”
