Lawrence County Grand Jury hands down six true bills for May

The Lawrence County Grand Jury handed down six true bills during their meeting May 9.

Among those indicted was Mark West II, 19, of Blaine who on April 26 allegedly committed the offense of fleeing/evading police when he was unlawfully in physical control of a motorized vehicle disregarding signals and commands to stop by Lawrence County Sheriff Deputy Daniel Castle in an attempt to elude his arrest.

The indictment also states that while attempting to allude the deputy he engaged in conduct which created substantial risk of injury or death to a juvenile on the ATV he was operating and also creating a risk of injury to the deputy who was acting in his official capacity.

West II also committed the violation of operating an ATV on the roads and highways of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

He is charged with first-degree fleeing and evading, a class D felony, first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree wanton endangerment involving a police officer and ATV violations.

Also indicted was Annastasia C. Jackson, 21, of Louisa on charges that on March 13, she committed the offense of tampering with a witness by unlawfully inducing or attempting to induce a witness to absent themselves, avoid appearing, testifying at an official proceeding or making false statements with the intent to affect testimony of the witness.

Jackson is charged with tampering with witness a class D felony with a penalty of 1 to 5 years and a fine up to $10,000. Witness for the Commonwealth is KSP Trooper Christin Mitchell.

Ray Farmer, 67, of Louisa, was indicted on charges of a class D felony of first-degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana a class B misdemeanor.

The indicted states that on March 21, Farmer committed the offense of being in possession of methamphetamine, two glass smoking pipes that contained chemical residue and possession of marijuana. Witness for the Commonwealth is LC Sheriff Deputy Tyler Laney.

Matthew Savage, 52, of Louisa, is charged by the grand jury for committing the offense of first-degree assault when he intentionally caused serious physical injury by means of a deadly weapon to a juvenile.

The indictment also charges that he, along with Marry Ann Savage, 49 of Louisa who was also indicted, committed the offense of third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor when they sold, gave, or procured alcoholic beverages for two minors.

Both he and Marry Ann are charged with tampering with physical evidence by destroying, removing, altering or concealing evidence that he believed would be used against him in an official proceeding.

Commonwealth witness is Louisa Police Officer Shelby Taylor.

Janet S. Clay, 62, of Louisa was indicted and charged with third-degree burglary after she allegedly committed the offense on March 29 of entering and remaining in Walmart of Louisa with the intent to commit the crime of theft. Clay was banned from the store Oct. 19, 2020 for a separate charge of shoplifting. Witness for the Commonwealth is Louisa Police Officer Shelby Taylor.
