Lawrence County Fair Board releases Event schedules

The Lawrence County Fair is right around the corner with a few activities and events kicking off as early as Saturday, July 19.
The fair has grown every year and this year’s schedule of events appears to be just as big if not bigger and will be highlighting a new rodeo event.

Events on Saturday, July 19, will be the Pickleball Tournament at the Lawrence County High School Courts beginning at 8 a.m.; also on the same day, beginning at 2 p.m., there will be a Pet Pageant at Tractor Supply.
The Lawrence County Fair Pageant will begin at 4 p.m., however contestants are asked to be at the Lawrence County Community Center by 3:30 p.m., to get signed up.
There will be different categories for ages from 0-18 and contestants must be from Lawrence, Boyd, Carter Counties in KY and Wayne County, WV.
Attire must be cute, stylish and show contestants personality. Judges decisions are final, no score sheets will be given out.

Wednesday, July 23, will be the date for vendors to set up at the fair ground. Those who have signed up will be setting up by appointment only and need to contact Wes Colegrove at 606-939-0592.
The fair will open on Thursday, July 24, at 5 p.m., with opening ceremonies by Lawrence County Judge Phil Carter, opening prayer by Chris Jobe, Flag Salute by VFW and National Anthem.
Livestock Showtime starts at 5 p.m. (cattle, sheep, pigs, goats etc.)
Cowboy Church begins at 7 p.m., with preaching by Will Arvin and Michael Marcum. Singers who are scheduled will be Yellow Creek Little Country Church Pickers, Living Waters and Joyful Trio.
On Friday, July 25, the fair will open at 4 p.m., kicking off with a livestock show (rabbits, chickens) at 5 p.m., (record book and posters will also be judged).
Mutton Busting Preliminary Sign-ups at 5-6 pm (see website application) (first 30 kids eligible).
Lawrence County Horse Show begins at 7 p.m., with a $3,300 payout.
There are 25 different classes with $5 and $10 entry fees. Contact Rick Blackburn at 606-371-4466 for details. Judge’s decisions are final.
Saturday, July 26, the day kicks off with the Cultural Arts Exhibit. Any youth or adult who resides in Lawrence County can show off their items at the fair. Entries must be submitted on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Judging will begin at noon. No entry fee to enter. For more information on this event, call the Lawrence County Extension office at 606-673-9495. All judges decisions are final.
The tenth annual car/truck/cycle/tractor show and third annual swap meet will be held at the Hilltop Methodist Church, 816 Pine Hill Rd., registration begins at 9 a.m. To register early, send $20 to: Connie Carter, P.O. Box 439, Louisa, KY 41230, make checks payable to LC Fair.
The Corn Hole Event begins with registration at 9 a.m., with games at 10 a.m., with a $1,000 payout, at 545 Pine Hill Road. Will be using ACA-approved boards and bags for the tournament. Entry fee is $40 per team. For information, call Bobby Hughes at 606-939-2064.
The Lawn Mower Tractor Pull presented by Outlaw Pulling Club starts at 11 a.m., also paying out $1,000.
Livestock Premium Auction Sale begins at 11 a.m., with a Greased Pig Contest following, kids and adults.
The ever-popular Outhouse Races are back again this year, begining at 2 p.m. with an $1,100 payout (signups for the race be from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) Trophies and cash prizes are awarded in four categories.
There will be free inflatables throughout the day for the kids enjoyment.
Between 4-5 p.m., on Saturday, the fairgrounds will be cleared except for folks who have pre-purchased rodeo wrist bands.
The fairground will re-open at 5 p.m., for the rodeo. Admission is $10 per person, kids ages 10 and under are free.
The rodeo event will begin at 7 p.m. During intermission the 2025 Mutton Busting Finals will be held. The top 10 riders from Friday’s event (which will be held during the horse show intermission) will compete for the championship title.
Following the rodeo everyone is welcome to stick around and listen to live music from the Chuck Robertson Project before the fair officially closes out for 2025.
