KY 2040 in Johnson County to be closed for Culvert Repairs on Jan. 14

PIKEVILLE – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 12 office advises motorists of an upcoming temporary road closure on KY 2040 (Offutt Road) in Johnson County to allow crews to perform a culvert extension and shoulder repairs.

The closure will take place Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Work will be conducted between mile points 1.5 and 1.8, all work is weather permitting.

Due to the narrow width of the roadway, a total closure is necessary to safely accommodate construction equipment and crews. Barricades and “Road Closed” signage will be in place during working hours.

Detour Reminder: motorists should use KY 40 and KY 581 as a detour to travel to and from Paintsville while the road is closed.

KYTC asks drivers to plan ahead, follow posted detour signs, and use caution near work zones. The roadway is expected to reopen once work concludes each day.

For the latest road conditions and project updates, motorists are encouraged to visit GoKY.ky.gov or follow KYTC District 12 on social media.
