A Kentucky State Trooper was suffered injuries after he was involved in a single-vehicle accident September 3 in the Willard community around 3:39 p.m..

According to a press release from KSP, the trooper’s vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment causing his cruiser to overturn. The trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported vis Healthnet air medical services to Cabell Huntington Hospital where according to his wife he had to undergo surgery.

“After surgery, we found out his left ankle was completely shattered, and the surgeon placed plates and screws on both sides to stabilize it. On his right ankle, a plate and screw were placed on the outside, while the inside fracture was covered by muscle. They are most concerned about the cartilage in both ankles. He’ll need to remain non-weight bearing for the next 6-8 weeks before starting PT,” said Cassidy Salyers about her husband Trooper Dallas Cam Salyers.

“I’m thankful his recovery is possible, however long it may take. I’m thankful there was no internal bleeding or further complications. I’m thankful his ankles are stable and his legs will heal in time. But most of all, I’m thankful God gave me more time with him.”

A gofundme page has been set up to help with expenses not covered by insurance, travel expenses to his doctor’s appointments and additional medical expenses related to his injuries.
