Johnson man arrested in Lawrence after chase

LOUISA —The Lawrence County Constable’s Association and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Kirk apprehended a man Sunday night wanted in connection with multiple warrants from Johnson County after he them on a chase hours earlier. Danny Young, 33, of Hager Hill, is charged in three indictments with drug trafficking offenses in Johnson County; five counts of felony wanton endangerment; one count of felony fleeing and evading in a vehicle; one count of felony fleeing and evading on foot; driving on a suspended license; and persistent felony offender. According to a release issued by the Lawrence County Constable’s Association, a tip was called in to the constable’s office concerning Young’s whereabouts. He was arrested without incident when he was found passed out in an abandoned car on Brushy Creek Road in Lawrence County. The arrest report said Young, while running from the law earlier in the day, rode a four-wheeler at an extremely high rate of speed through the yard of a Daniel and Billie Cordle, while another man, Dan Jaynes, and a 13-year old juvenile were in close proximity, causing circumstances “manifesting extreme indifference to life.” Constable Daniel Castle said in his arrest citation that he identified himself as law enforcement at Raccoon Branch and that he demanded at gunpoint that Young get on the ground.
Young refused and fled on a four-wheeler approximately two miles at the end of Raccoon Branch Road, driving at extreme speeds, Castle said. Young ditched the four-wheeler and continued on foot into the woods, where Castle said he gave chase for approximately one mile. Young was taken into custody and transported to The Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Johnson County.
