Cases of COVID-19 across the region are continuing to increase, with additional cases in Johnson and Floyd counties. On Monday, the Floyd County Health Department announced two additional cases of COVID-19 in the county, including a female who is in the hospital with symptoms and a male who is being cared for at home. The health department said in their release that the total number of cases is now 21, with 17 recovered and four in isolation. In Johnson County, the health department announced Saturday that a 47-year-old asyptomatic female had tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Johnson County to seven. On Thursday, the health department announced that a 6-year-old male who is asymptomatic tested positive and is isolating at home with his family. The health department advised that as Kentucky continues to reopen and testing across the state increases, public health officials urge the public to heed social distancing guidelines, wear face masks when appropriate, and continue practicing good hygiene. Lawrence County is still reporting five cases and Martin County is still reporting three, but all of them have already recovered and there are none in either county still under quarantine.
