Inez Couple Facing Drug Trafficking Charges After Routine Traffic Stop; Police find a Large Amount of Meth Under the Hood

TOMAHAWK — A Martin County pair face multiple drug charges, after police found a large amount of meth hidden in various places of their truck on Milo Road.

According to an arrest citation Martin County sheriff’s deputy James Wall, was patrolling Milo Road on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m., when he saw a truck with a sign blocking the rear window crossing over the center line in a curve and during a routine traffic stop the deputy stated the occupants Larry Joe Horn Jr., 58, and Brandi Moore, 35, both of Inez, appeared nervous and were shuffling around inside the truck.

Upon asking the two to step out of the vehicle, police observed a Natural Light can in the cup holder.

During a search of the truck, police found three individual baggies containing a crystal-like substance weighing approximately 7 grams, along with 10 orange pills inside a purse on the passenger side. They also found a bottle of Gabapentin, filled Feb. 9, which should have contained 90 pills only containing 49, according to the report.

A search of the back seat yielded a cloth bag containing a contact case with approximately 0.5 grams of a crystal-like substance, a scale more small baggies small baggies.

Authorities reported recovering $73 Moore’s purse and $1,570 in cash in Horn’s pockets.

However, after lifting the hood of the vehicle, police found another 78 grams of meth stashed between the radiator and front bumper.

Both Horn and Moore were arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (less than 2 grams of methamphetamine); trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; and open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.

Horn also faces a charge of obstructed vision and/or windshield. Both were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
