ALLEN — Kentucky State Police arrested a man in connection with an Aug. 18 armed robbery at the Community Trust Bank in the Allen community of Floyd County.

Jeffery Mullins, 61, of Hager Hill, was arrested at his residence Aug. 19 and is charged with first-degree robbery.

KSP Det. Ryan Hamilton, with the assistance of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, obtained “crucial video evidence” that led to identifying Mullins as a suspect, according to a press release.

According to the criminal complaint, Mullins showed the teller a handgun tucked in his waistband and gave her a note demanding money.

Mullins stated if the tellers accessed the alarm, he would kill them, the complaint said, and he got away with $16,000 from Community Trust Bank.

At the time of the armed robbery being reported, KSP investigators responded to the area. The initial investigation indicated an unidentified male entered the building, brandished a firearm from his waistband and demanded money from the teller. The man then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man was described as 5’9 tall and of slender build, last seen wearing a blue- and white-striped button-up shirt, a baseball cap, glasses and a medical mask.

According to information released by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the man was last seen walking beside of Subway approaching Rt. 1428 at Allen.

“This was a joint effort between federal, state, and local departments to locate and arrest Jeffrey Mullins,” the KSP release said. “We would like to thank the community for their numerous tips during this investigation.”
