Four indictments returned by Martin County Grand Jury

INEZ —The Martin County Grand Jury returned four indictments Oct. 4.

Named in the true bills were:

• Jeremy Maynard, 39, of Lovely, charged with first-degree burglary for allegedly entering the dwelling house of Darlene Robinette of Lovely May 5 with the intent to commit a crime while armed with a deadly weapon.

• Jon Thomas Allen, 35, of Inez, charged with receiving stolen property over $1,000 but under $10,000 for allegedly possessing a generator and a pressure washer April 15 and 16 that were stolen from Brenda Perry of Inez, with an approximate value exceeding $1,000.

• Leitha Tackett, 60, of Warfield, charged with two counts of intent defraud/scheme/artifice to obtain benefits/complicity for allegedly making a false statement or misrepresentation or failing to disclose a material fact used in determining the person’s qualification to receive benefits under any assistance program, resulting in the approximate over payment of SNAP benefits totaling $1,572, from April 1, 2020, through April 30, 2021; and Medicaid benefits totaling $5,152.33 from Dec. 1, 2020, through April 30, 2021.

• James A. Moore, 52, of Lovely, charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police for allegedly disregarding signals and commands to stop given by Martin County Constable Brad Preece in an attempt to flee Sept. 10.
