LOUISA — Four people were arrested Saturday after a brief chase in Louisa.

Casey Arthur, 31, of Louisa, is charged with reckless driving; failure to dim headlights; first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle and first-degree wanton endangerment.

Haley Griffith, 20, and Jonathon M. Young, 42, both of Louisa, and April Ann Harper, 37, of Blaine, are charged with tampering with physical evidence.

According to the arrest report, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Mason Keefer observed Arthur traveling on Third Street with bright lights on while oncoming traffic was approaching. Arthur sped up and ran a stop sign, with children in the area, the report said.

When Keefer activated his emergency equipment, the report said, Arthur fled for approximately 12 miles. During the pursuit, multiple items were thrown from the vehicle, the report said.

Arthur broke multiple traffic laws while the pursuit was ongoing, the report said, and two rear passengers had other ingredients for drug trafficking.

Arthur struck the guard rail on Rt. 3 at the Fallsburg Campground, where people were present, and then signed a refusal for EMS.

According to the arrest citations, Griffith, Young and Harper threw plastic baggies and suboxone wrappers out the window during the pursuit. When the vehicle was stopped, Keefer discovered suboxone wrappers on the floorboard where Young was sitting, the report said.

All four were taken into custody and transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
