A Louisa man lost his life when he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on Friday, June, 20 on US 23.

According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Jerry Sparks, Christopher Berman Skaggs, 22, was travelling south bound near the Kentucky Power Plant at the Little Blaine entrance when the motorcycle left the road on the left side of the highway striking the guardrail.

The trooper said according to witnesses, Skaggs had been riding the motorcycle he had just purchased that morning all day and had decided to go riding again that night.

According Fallsburg Fire Chief Chris Jobe, the call was dispatched around 11:30 p.m. and Skaggs had been riding alongside a friend who witnessed the accident.

“It was a very sad incident,” Jobe said. “I was hopeful that he was gonna be OK when it first came across the radio that he had an arm injury and immediately called for a landing zone.”

Trooper Sparks said he doesn’t believe there were any underlying conditions that caused the accident other than lack of experience.

Services for Skaggs, formerly of Morehead, will be held  today, Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel Burial will follow at the Bradley Cemetery in Soldier.
