FORSYTHE COUNTY, Ga. — A former Paintsville doctor was fatally stabbed Sunday in Georgia and his son has been charged with his murder.

Catlin Tyler Boswell, 36, of Chatsworth, Ga., was arrested and charged with murder in the death of his father, Dr. John Boswell, 65, and aggravated assault in the serious wounding of his mother, whose name was not released by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The Forsyth County News reported Monday that deputies responded to a stabbing on Sunday on Cambria Court and that the suspect’s mother was also stabbed and hospitalized in serious condition.

Catlin Boswell fled the scene but was later arrested without incident after traveling toward Whitfield County, Ga., Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman told the newspaper.

“Violent crimes like this are still shocking in Forsyth, the fact that a son could take the life of his own father and try to do the same of his mother is beyond comprehension,” Freeman said.

Catlin Bowell is being held without bond at the Forsyth County Jail.
