Daytime closure for drain replacement on KY 40 in Martin County, May 17
PIKEVILLE — On Friday, May 17, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 will replace a cross-drain on KY 40 (Spicy Mountain) at mile point 0.5 in Martin County.
The road will be closed to all through traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow for safe and efficient drain replacement.
Message boards will be placed at the top and bottom of the hill on KY 40 to alert drivers of the upcoming closure and detour information.
This work is essential to improve the area’s long-term drainage and travel conditions.
Drivers are asked to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes during the closure window. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated if needed.
All work is scheduled to be completed in one day, weather permitting. KYTC District 12 appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this necessary maintenance project.
