While the Addiction Recovery Center (ARC) is still under an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) they say abruptly closing five facilities in Louisa this past week is not related to the probe that was launched by the FBI in August for potential health care fraud.
In fact, they are saying the undisclosed amount of layoffs, transporting dozens of clients and shutting down Louisa facilities are due to impending and significant reimbursement cuts for addiction and mental health service providers.
ARC spokesperson Kyle Collier sent the following statement to the Big Sandy News Friday afternoon:
“Addiction Recovery Care (ARC) is committed to providing comprehensive care for individuals struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. This has been our mission for over 15 years and it continues to be
today. However, due to impending and significant reimbursement cuts for addiction and mental health service providers, we have had to make difficult decisions impacting some of our staff members. This is not a decision we made lightly, and we are doing everything possible to support the affected individuals during this transition. Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment to the Crisis to Career model, the decision was made to transition some Louisa facilities to workforce housing for clients pursuing college certifications and vocational training — to best help Kentuckians achieve successful long-term recovery.”
One of the facilities is being renovated and will open as early as 2025 while the other four are being repurposed.
