10 charged in Johnson County indictments

PAINTSVILLE — Ten people were named in indictments returned by the Johnson County Grand Jury last Wednesday, Aug. 17.

Named in the true bills were:

• Gary Phillip Robertson, 42, of Paintsville, charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree rape for allegedly entering and remaining in a house in Paintsville and engaging in sexual intercourse with a juvenile on Nov. 1, 2022.

• Jesse Ward, 44, of Nippa; Nequa Brown, 28, of Van Lear; and Cameron Mollette, 21, of Nippa, charged with third-degree burglary/complicity for allegedly, acting alone or in complicity with each other, unlawfully entering an outbuilding on Lindy Branch Road owned by James Baldwin with the intent to commit a crime on Aug. 1.

Brown is additionally charged with second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (less than 20 dosage units of a schedule III controlled substance) for allegedly possessing suboxone and $152 in cash with the intent to traffic in or by trafficking in the drug on the same day.

• Joshua Kirk, 41, of Inez, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), third-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession/use of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing methamphetamine, gabapentin, a syringe and marijuana on March 6.

• Rex D. Vicars, 55, of Thelma, charged with first-degree promoting contraband for allegedly introducing, obtaining or possessing methamphetamine in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on March 2.

• David Neal Chandler, 41, of Paintsville; Jonathan Owens of Salyersville; and Breanna Strickland, 21, of Paintsville, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)/complicity for allegedly, acting alone or in complicity with each other, possessing the drug on March 18.

• Darren Mollett, 29, of Boons Camp, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) for allegedly possessing the drug on Aug. 1.
